This may be true to some degree it is harder to meet true friends in any big city. However, I disagree that one cannot meet the right friends here at all. Anyone who thinks this way should go back to where they came from.
I believe it is all depends on your approach. If the search is center around bars like may of us do, that is the worst possible place to concentrate your effort in. It could happen, but never the best place by any means.
This acquaintance I encountered, interested in only what he wanted, in his mine of a perfect friend and partner, but never ask himself if he is also a perfect ten in the eye of his prospect too? Definitely no Casanova, and a little self center as well.
He announced that he got approached a lot in bars. Unfortunately from what I saw those are mostly undesirable individuals, searching for desperate companies, on a lonely weekend out in the town. I suppose there is nothing wrong with it unless you are looking for a one nightstand.
More importantly I realized when ask this acquaintance of his hobby or interests, he can’t provide a straightforward answer for a single activities that he can share with a group of people. In a city like New York, there are many opportunities to meet up with a group of people to peruse a common interest. Like arts and culture, or restaurants and food, outdoor activities or even shopping, there must be something he could enjoy doing with a group of people. At least that is the first step towards meeting quality friends, instead of hoping to meet “a person” he have nothing in common with, other than his obsession of their physical beauty. That is a lost course.
However, I am no authority on this subject, I made a lot of quality friends in the city, I will no longer extend a helping hand in his matter any further, because it landed me on the wrong place even with the right heart. To be true to my principle, it is really not important to have these kinds of negative influences in my life either way. Who have time for that.
What do you think? Care to share your thoughts.
