Gay Ricky

Why are the media talking about Ricky Martin coming out of the closet when there are more important news like subway bombing in Russia, War in Afghanistan, Haiti is still in ruin. Closer to home, people are throwing themselves on the MTA track, Crimes in stations at late night, yet another crane collapsed in downtown, a boy jumping to his death from the Empire State building, Flooding in some of the borough due to record rainfall, City budget problem, there is no shortage of headlines and Ricky Martin got top billing. I don't understand why? Care to comment?

If you are a fan of Ricky and like his songs, why does it matter if he is gay or straight? Does he perform differently? Does he sing on higher notes now? He is still he. Nothing change, if you off by him being gay, may be we are just shallow??

I do not care either way, I was never a fan, and I don’t even know any of his song. I did saw some of the old clips while he was being interviewed in the 90’s. He denied that he was gay, or simply avoided the subject.

American’s obsession about someone being gay is beyond me. Here I quote from a statement made: “ His sexuality is no one else’s business, but his own.” Well put. In another word, buzz off? Not sure if she is a fan or not.

May be the move is a publicity stun? During an interview Ricky said that he lies because it was under his friends advice to protect his image and career. What is the need to come out now? Time had changed, and no one really care. Besides we all know that he is gay long time ago. Do you?

I suppose time had change a lot in the last 10 years. The younger generations, majority of them I believe are more acceptance. I hope that media not making such a big fuss about it. It should be a non-issue, non-headline. On the other hand our military set a rather bad example to delay the repeal “Don’t as don’t tell in the military”. Isn't we all agrees the law does not work? What is your take on the subject?

  1. Really, the only bit of humor one might find in the media's ridiculous amount of coverage is a connection they missed. Ricky was a part of Menudo. Section it out phonetically and it spells Men-u-do. They do miss the obvious.
